Enhanced of Service of the Tomsk IEEE Chapter
I feel very proud to have been the Founder of the Tomsk IEEE Chapter for which I have the utmost respect, and proud of all the wonderful achievements.
We was launched our Chapter with a severe budget deficit in last of 1990 as a direct result of the severe economic downturn and its effect on the companies who employ our members. With much thought and effort we have made a growth of number of the IEEE members, and identified and created products that our members have told us they want. Through these measures we have turned attention to IEEE as the best professional community. We gained visibility with many Chapters and potential Chapters through visits and talks given locally.
These are the accomplishments of set of very active and conscientious volunteers, and I am thankful to each of them. It would not be possible to list all the accomplished things, but I do want to mention a few of those that give me a great deal of personal satisfaction.
We have a number of new conferences, especially in the technical and education areas, including conferences in cooperation with other Universities especially in foreign countries. We collaborated with other IEEE Societies in some conferences, especially ED-S and MTT-S. We established some stability networking for management of our technical activities. Our own tutorials are rather popular, we are working on enlarge amount of tutorials.
We gained additional very positive visibility for our Chapter with industry and universities. It was an overall long-time efforts.
We built a closer linkage between ED-S, MTT-S, AP-S. We built a closer linkage between Russian engineering community based on technical activities and passion of conference organizing due sharing information between the groups. We made initial forays into some new areas, including nanotechnology and internet of things.
We nominated some extremely strong slates of candidates for Senior member positions, helping to maintain the high caliber of people on the board while ensuring that we have representation from around the world.
We made a conscious decision to strengthen our efforts to be a All-Russia Chapter, continuing to hold conferences and management meetings in locations around the country, even while dealing with budget issues in little bit.
I feel very happy to have met so many wonderful people around the world, and to have had the opportunity to meet not only with volunteers but also with many members and potential members. I am pleased to have had the opportunity to visit many of your facilities, where I have been quite impressed with the work underway.
