The 10th International Symposium on Advances of Measurement Science
has been hold from June 30 to July 2, 2004 in hotel "Saint-Petersburg"
in St.-Petersburg, Russia. The symposium was organized by Tomsk
Joint ED Chapter upon request of the International Measurement
Confederation.
In three halls of hotel "Saint-Petersburg" the parallel sessions were
organized in the following fields: Foundations of Measurement Science
and Metrology; Uncertainty of Measurement; Measurement Signals and Data
Processing; Intelligent Measurement Systems; Methods and Algorithms
for Measurement, Testing, Diagnostics, and Recognition; Qualimetry.
Before the symposium, the Proceedings and CD-ROM were published.
Papers were selected by the International Programm Committee
based on reviewing of the extended thesis, sent via e-mail, and
describing new results of scientific researches, original ideas
and offers on practical using the results. The reports were only
oral, the poster section were not organized. In addition to sessions,
the symposium program included two discussion panels.
The Symposium has concluded that it is necessary to supply an opportunity
to create a knowledge base on the measurement systems. It is
important to promote more active participation of the IEEE members
in their own IEEE units, as well as to extent cooperation with new
people, paying special attention to youth, both separate researchers
and societies from other connected disciplines.
