Student Branch (SB) and Yound ProfessionalsOf the Last Decade (YP) Congress was held from August 31st to September 3rd 2006 at Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris, France. Last congresses took place in Istambul (1998), Eindhoven (2000), Cairo (2002), and Passau (2004). Our Section was represented by the YP Chair Oleg Stukach and SB Chair Olesya Kozhemyak.

More than 250 participants came from different countries of IEEE Region 8 to Paris to attend this Congress. To support these younger members, to learn about their ideas, to provide them with solutions and suggestions, no less than 50 speakers, guests, and IEEE officials also joined this congress.This meeting was an opportunity to meet student branches and YP chairs and also important figures of IEEE and IEEE Region 8. It was also a chance to discuss various topics and exchange ideas. The program of the Congress was very interesting. There were seminars about the IEEE, its advantages, how to manage the IEEE student branch etc. The cooperation relationship between Siberia and European YPies was established. It is allowed our professionals and students to get an idea about organization of conferences and another events. As expected the highlight of the SBC 2006 was the multicultural night during which the participants prepared, brought, shared and enjoyed food, costumes and dances from the numerous and very diverse countries of the Region 8.

In our opinion Student Branches from every IEEE Section should organize their own National Student Branch Congress as it is a very good way to make people from different SB's meet and therefore old IEEE's leitmotiv - "Networking the World" can be put into action.
