Student Paper Contest on the Information Security (SIBINFO-2001) was hold on April 24-25, 2001 in Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR), Dept. of Complex Information Protection of PCs at support and participation of the Tomsk IEEE Chapter & Student Branch, and technical co-sponsorship of the IEEE Communications Society.
Representatives of the Novosibirsk State Technical University (Novosibirsk), Altai State Technical University (Barnaul), Siberian Aerospace Academy (Krasnoyarsk), Stavropol State University (Stavropol), Moscow State Institute of Electron Technique - Technicical University (Moscow), Voronezsh MVD Institute (Voronezsh), Don State Technical University (Rostov-on-Don), and TUSUR were participated.

The rules of SIBINFO-2001 were composed basing of the Student Paper Contest of IEEE Region 8. The professional jury has selected the written papers and has accepted for presentation at the oral final 9 papers.

The papers of winners will be published in the Proceedings of the IEEE-Siberian workshop of students, post-graduate students and young researches SIBCOM-2001 (TAG 7668).
Participants of contest took part in excursions to MICRAN Company, educational and scientific laboratories of TUSUR, student dormitory, and was acquainted the 400-year history of Tomsk.
Contest promoted recruiting of new members in IEEE and in ComSoc in particular. In conclusion TUSUR thanks the IEEE Communications Society for sponsorship and hopes for continuation of mutually advantageous cooperation.
